Strategically, common areas were grouped, extended, and relocated to form a unified living area on the street side of the building. Private areas, two bedrooms with common bathroom, were positioned at the back of the apartment overwatching the city blocks inner courtyard. Utilities and storage areas were designed along an extended corridor that connects front and back – “common and private”. A fully illuminated stretch ceiling was designed to cover the middle of the apartment (corridor, entrance, utilities etc) to invert existing natural lighting conditions and enhance the spatial continuity and flow.

The original materials of the apartment (typical 10×10 parquet, terrazzo etc) were preserved as a reference to the “typical Athenian apartment of the 70s”, whereas new built elements were designed and detailed to matches the 70s urban style, through a contemporary point of view.
