The renovation scheme was to open and brighten up the interiors and redesign the building program by arranging most of the daily activities outdoors so as to enjoy the outstanding view of the small gulf.
Spanning three levels the vertical circulation is arranged by indoor and outdoor staircases. The interior staircase is reshaped as a vertical connecting element and features a wooden partition wall with celosia clay brick infills.
The house sits upon a sloping terrain landscaped by parallel retaining walls, adorned with Mediterranean dry garden species. Extending from the structure, pergolas play an essential role in openair living serving as protective canopies, casting gradients of shade while protecting from the strong winds.
New outdoor spaces, encompassing lounges, seating areas, and dining zones, have been thoughtfully incorporated. Among them, an outdoor kitchen with a BBQ setup extends the indoor living areas to the open air.
Within the interiors, a consistent palette of pure white envelops the floors, walls, and wooden ceilings. This choice imbues the cave-like spaces with an airy and luminous ambiance, enriched by the interplay of natural wood textures, vibrant textiles, and distinctive pieces of contemporary furniture.
Outdoors, local stone-clad walls, seamlessly laid cement floors and wooden pergolas create a natural backdrop for a diverse array of colorful outdoor furnishings, adding depth to the exterior space.
