Adapting to the working patterns of the team, the space – in terms of layout – is arranged in three zones offering graded privacy: the open plan working space, the common areas and the private offices.
A necessity for a connecting gesture that would also enhance the overall acoustics led to the main architectural feature, a “soft” wall that outlines the common areas and creates inviting flows of movement throughout the space.
Kotlé is a corduroy system of curved partition walls that act as a folding paper structure separating private and public working zones. The soft wall wraps in a continuous curve the entrance, the kitchen, a meeting area and two corridors that lead to smaller offices offering its sound absorbing material and geometrical properties to create a calm working environment.
The pallet features sustainable materials such as paper tubes, carpet flooring and natural wood furnishings in earthen colour shades. The lighting design is kept simple; two parallel thin strings traverse both the open working space and the closed working rooms supporting linear light tubes.
